Questions

What is the GMAT score range?

The GMAT Focus Edition is scored from 205 to 805 in 10-point steps. Each section (Quant, Verbal, Data Insights) is scored from 60 to 90.

What is a good GMAT score?

A 655 is at the 89.6th percentile in GMAC's August 2026 table. Whether it is competitive depends on the specific programme, cohort and the rest of your application; there is no universal admission cutoff.

Is the 50th percentile the average GMAT score?

The 50th percentile marks the middle of the score distribution, not its arithmetic mean. Use the dated official table to compare percentile ranks; do not treat a percentile as an admission requirement.

How do GMAT Focus scores compare to the old GMAT?

The scales differ. GMAC's August 2026 concordance links a current 655 to legacy 700 or 710 by percentile rank. These are comparisons, not equal scores or a reversible formula.

Are these percentiles official?

Total, Quant and Verbal values are transcribed from GMAC's August 2026 tables, covering July 2021 to June 2026. A current official Data Insights lookup table was not verified here, so its percentile values are not shown. Percentile tables can change each year.
